Corazon Aquino: History and Her Story

A nice exhibit was displayed in the Activity Center of Glorietta Mall in Makati. Yes, it's all about the late President Corazon Aquino - Tita Cory as how Filipinos call her.

The exhibit was presented for her 5th death anniversary. President Aquino died of colon cancer on August 1, 2009.

A brave widow of a murdered senator who fought one of the worlds longest dictatorship. Now, we commemorate her death with this simple exhibit of her memorabilia. “History and Her Story”, was organized by Ayala Malls, PeopleAsia Magazine and Tiger 22 and it showcases the life of the late democracy icon from her school years, to her marriage to the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. to the People Power Revolution and how she shaped Philippine history.

Rence Chan told me that Mrs. Aquino's favorite color is really not yellow. The "yellow" came from the song "Tie A Yellow Ribbon" which was the theme song of Senator Benigno Aquino's return to the Philippines - Anyway, Tita Cory's favorite color is red, like this dress which she worn when she was awarded by TIME Magazine as Woman of the Year in 1986.

Now here's the dress she wore during the 25th Aniversary of Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino's death. The one on the right is the one she wore as printed in our P500.00 banknote.

When she was young...

A photo of Tita Cory's younger years when she was still studying  in St. Scholastica's College in Manila, where she graduated on top of her class and batch as valedictorian.

The woman, the wife, the mother...

Most of these photographs came from  Mr. Val Rodriguez, Cory’s close-in photographer and the collections from the Aquino Center and Museum, and the Ninoy and Cory Foundation.

The Artist...

Do you know that Mrs. Aquino was also an artist? Yes! And some of her works are now immortalized as stamps.

The Leader...

Farewell...

The exhibit was opened by President Benigno S. Aquino III last August 4, 2014 and will run until August 10, 2014.
